I adore brownies. I believe they are fundamentally flawless. Extremely decadent, yet also sweet and gooey. I relish them when the centers are so soft and humid, and the tops are cracked and crisp.
When you remove them from the pan and the top fractures, I experience such a profound sense of accomplishment. It’s simply so lovely.
I also have a fondness for Nutella.
I’m one of those individuals who can savor it with a spoon straight from the jar. Therefore, at some moment, I was bound to experiment with creating an easy recipe forNutella Brownies.
Baking with Nutella is always a tremendous success with the children too!
The foundation for my chocolate brownies consistently remains quite similar, but incorporating different flavors and textures necessitates slight adjustments to achieve the correct consistency. Basic chocolate brownies don’t require much flour, yet I discover that the greater the amount of “wet” ingredients I include, the more flour they require to set.
What is the Origin of the Name Brownies?
Fannie Farmer, an American cooking authority, was the first to use the term “brownie” to define a food in a cookbook published in 1896. They were cakes prepared in individual molds but didn’t contain chocolate.
Things adapted and transformed, as they tend to, until we arrived at the brownies we recognize today. I’m not entirely certain why they were ever termed brownies, to be honest, possibly due to their rich hue. Can anyone shed any light?
HOW DO YOU CREATE NUTELLA BROWNIES?
To craft the finest brownies, you need to whisk your eggs and sugar until they are light-colored and have slightly thickened. They should leave a faint trail when you lift the spoon. This process can take 5-10 minutes, and you might think it’s never going to occur, but it will – persist!
I suggest using an electric whisk(affiliate link) to spare your arm from exhaustion.
I also find that melting the Nutella alongside the chocolate and butter makes it considerably simpler than incorporating room-temperature Nutella directly from the jar. Mixing Nutella into the brownies batter straight from the jar might present difficulties.
WHAT IS THE QUANTITY OF NUTELLA IN A NUTELLA BROWNIE?
Myeasy Nutella Brownies don’t have a very strong Nutella taste. Some recipes out there derive all their chocolaty richness from Nutella alone.
They utilize an entire jar (400g), without any additional cocoa or chocolate. They feel as if one is biting into a chunk of Nutella in brownie form. I consider this a bit excessive. Still, it’s entirely a matter of personal taste.
MyDark Chocolate Nutella Brownies are more akin to a chocolate brownie, featuring a hint of hazelnut. You can discern the Nutella essence, yet it’s not overpowering.
If you desire more Nutella, adjust the Nutella to chocolate balance until it’s perfect for you.
Can You Substitute Margarine for Brownies?
Seasoned chefs may suggest that using butter is essential. Or that if you opt for butter, your brownies will be superior. Unsalted butter appears to be the preferred choice for numerous culinary enthusiasts.
However, I frequently use margarine for most of my baking, brownies with Nutella included. Butter if that’s what I have on hand.
I’m definitely a use-what-you-have, or what you can afford kind of baker.
Can You Use Milk Chocolate in Brownies?
Dark chocolate provides a more intense flavor.
Nonetheless, milk chocolate will indeed suffice; you’ll still achieve a wonderful brownie.
Dark chocolate creates the finest brownies, but if you possess only milk chocolate and are eager to make a brownie, go for it!
How Can You Tell When Brownies are Done?
Fortune? The thing about brownies is, if they aren’t fully cooked, you can place them in the fridge, and they’ll set, or you can allow them to cool in the pan, and they’ll continue cooking for a bit. If they are marginally overcooked, you gain a delicious Nutella traybake. Win-win!
Typically, for brownies, don’t depend on the “insert a skewer” test. It might not come out clean regardless of doneness; there’s an abundance of gooeyness and chocolate. It’s not a reliable test like with cake.
I remove my brownies from the oven when the edges detach from the pan, the surface starts to crack, and they still have a slight wobble in the center if you give the pan a gentle shake. Getting the timing right is what makes brownies fudgy.
It could take longer than the recipe indicates, depending on your oven, so I suggest checking 5 minutes earlier and then every 5 minutes if they’re still not ready.
How to Achieve a Cracked Brownie Top
That split top is all about perfect timing. The very surface is baked, but the center remains wobbly, causing it to lift slightly.
However, if your top isn’t cracked, don’t fret. It doesn’t mean your brownies aren’t going to be fudgy and fantastic. It could simply be that conditions weren’t entirely flawless. Mine don’t always crack even after years of baking.
Why are my Brownies Excessively Fudgy?
If your easy Nutella brownies are overly fudgy, they might just be a tad underbaked (I actually enjoy them this way!)
Allow them to cool in the pan to continue cooking. But, if when you attempt to slice your cooled Nutella chocolate brownies they are too mushy, place them back in the baking tray, and refrigerate for an hour.
They will nearly set and firm up.
Can You Bake Nutella?
As an ingredient in Nutella Baking, Nutella is perfectly fine in the oven.
You can also place the jar in the oven or microwave for a few seconds if, for any reason, you’re trying to spread it and it’s too firm. Just avoid leaving it for too long.
Is Nutella Nutritious?
ThisNutella Brownie Recipe isn’t the healthiest option around. Plenty of sugar!
However, Nutella itself isn’t too bad.
It’s relatively high in fat and sugar, but it’s also a source of iron and calcium. I try not to let the children have it on their toast all the time, but there are certainly worse options out there.
Embellishing Nutella Brownies
I generally don’t embellish my Nutella Brownies.
I believe they look wonderful as they are.
Nonetheless, I do adorn some of my others with bits of chocolate or drizzled melted chocolate, so I understand why you might want to.
You could adorn these brownies with Nutella and some melted chocolate, create Brownies with Nutella Icing, or top them with a simple Nutella frosting.
If you’re feeling a bit adventurous, adding hazelnuts or pieces of Kinder Bueno would be fantastic!
Can You Freeze Nutella Brownies?
Absolutely! Because they are quite sticky, if you ever desired to freeze brownies, I’d let them cool before cutting them.
Then, wrap each slice individually in clingfilm, before placing them all into a freezer bag or sealed container. When you’re ready for them, defrost slowly in the fridge before unwrapping.
Brownies make for a great present, so occasionally freezing them offers you a bit more flexibility.
How Long Do Brownies Remain Fresh?
In a sealed container at room temperature, these brownies can last up to a week. They are very moist and loaded with sugar, so they don’t truly go stale or dry out.
While I sometimes place very gooey Nutella brownies in the fridge if they are a bit undercooked and I want to firm them up, I don’t keep them there afterward. I find that storing brownies in the fridge makes them dry out somewhat.

Easy Nutella Brownies
Autor Name
These Nutella Brownies are moist, indulgent and chocolatey! Ideal!
- 200 g Butter or Margarine
- 200 g Dark Chocolate
- 200 g Nutella
- 200 g Caster Sugar
- 4 Eggs
- 200 g Plain Flour
- 40 g Cocoa Powder
-
Preheat your oven to 180 degrees and line a deep baking tray with parchment paper.
-
Beat the eggs and sugar together for 5 minutes until light and thick. Set aside.
-
In a large saucepan, carefully melt the butter, chocolate, and Nutella together.
-
Once the mixture is smooth, take it off the heat and pour it into the egg mixture.
-
Mix until the color is uniform.
-
Sift in the flour and cocoa powder.
-
Stir until it becomes smooth.
-
Pour the Nutella Brownies mixture into the baking tray and tilt it so that it fills the entire space.
-
Cook in the oven for 25 minutes.
-
Gently take it out from the tray and allow it to cool before slicing.
- Modify the Nutella/Dark chocolate ratio for a richer Nutella taste.
- I utilize a baking tray lined with greaseproof paper that measures 15″ x 10″ and is about an inch deep. Adjust your baking duration if your pan is smaller and your brownies are thicker (or decrease ingredient amounts).
- I beat my eggs and sugar for 5 minutes with an electric whisk at full speed. Ideally, the blend should appear pale, thick, and increased in volume; achieving this may take some time.
- Brownies are done when the edges are pulling away from the pan, and the center remains slightly jiggly. They will firm up as they cool. If they don’t, refrigerate them to help them solidify.
