If you place your chocolate orange segments on your brownies too early, they’ll completely melt or sink, resulting in an unappealing appearance. They’ll still taste delicious.

I add chocolate to the surfaces of my brownies during the last 5 minutes of baking, once the top has already set.

Alternatively, you could add them right after baking, as soon as you take the brownies out of the oven, and they’d be warm enough to melt the bottoms of the segments, anchoring them in place.

Once again, it’s your choice. Do what feels correct!
