This homemade sesame dressing provides intense flavor for your DIY salads. It necessitates just four primary components: toasted sesame oil, tamari or soy sauce, lime juice, and a hint of Dijon mustard.

If you possess the time and enthusiasm, incorporate freshly toasted sesame seeds, ginger, and garlic. They enhance the flavor profile, but this dressing is already delightful in its most basic state.

Prepare this sesame dressing when you’re desiring a green side salad. It’s simple to mix together using essential pantry items, and it tastes significantly superior to store-bought dressings.

I devised this dressing recipe to accompany this seaweed salad, but it pairs wonderfully with much more. Below is a comprehensive list of recommendations for crafting your own salad this evening!

Sesame Dressing

This sesame dressing delivers fresh and vibrant flavor for your homemade salads! The recipe is straightforward to assemble using sesame oil, soy sauce, and lime juice. Yields approximately ½ cup.

  1. If incorporating the optional sesame seeds, place them in a small skillet over medium-low heat and cook, stirring often, until they start to turn golden, about two to three minutes. Remove from heat.
  2. In a liquid measuring cup or small bowl, mix the sesame oil, tamari, lime juice, 2 teaspoons of ginger, garlic, mustard, optional red pepper flakes, and optional toasted sesame seeds.
  3. Whisk until the mixture is thoroughly combined. Taste, and if the flavor isn’t quite right, whisk in a tiny pinch of salt. If you desire a stronger ginger taste, incorporate the additional teaspoon now.
  4. This dressing can be served immediately, but the flavors are even more enhanced after resting for twenty minutes. Store the dressing in the refrigerator, covered, for up to 1 week.

Notes

Make it gluten-free: Ensure to use gluten-free tamari instead of regular soy sauce.

In a rush? You can simplify this dressing by omitting the sesame seeds, garlic, and ginger. You’ll still achieve a flavorful dressing.
