Hotdog Mac and Cheese
How to Prepare Hotdog Mac and Cheese – Detailed Steps
Comprehensive, straightforward guidelines and measurements can be found in the recipe card at the conclusion of this article.
Step One
Boil the macaroni as per the packet instructions. This typically involves cooking for around 5 minutes in salted water.
Step Two
Drain, rinse, and set aside. Rinsing simply prevents it from clumping together.
Step Three
In a large, heatproof pan over medium heat, melt the butter and garlic on the stove.
Step Four
Lower the heat and incorporate the flour.
Step Five
Whisk for 1-2 minutes until it transforms into a smooth ball. It comes together rather quickly.
Step Six
Gradually pour in the milk, whisking in small amounts at a time to prevent lumps. I begin with tiny splashes, but increase it once it’s more liquid.
Step Seven
Raise the heat and let it simmer for 3 minutes, whisking consistently. You’ll notice it thickening as you proceed.
Step Eight
Take it off the heat.
Step Nine
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C (fan-assisted).
Step Ten
Incorporate the salt, pepper, dijon mustard, paprika, and chili by whisking.
Step Eleven
Gently mix in the pieces of sausage.
Step Twelve
Mix in most of the cheeses, saving a small amount of each to sprinkle on top.
Step Thirteen
Stir in the pasta until coated in cheese sauce. It’s quite thick and cheesy, so you may need to really reach down.
Step Fourteen
Carefully transfer into an appropriate ovenproof dish. Mine might not be large enough, but all my other dishes are way too big!
Step Fifteen
Sprinkle with the remaining cheese.
Step Sixteen
Bake for 20 minutes until the top is golden for an ideal hot dog mac and cheese!
