What you’ll require to prepare it
Sugar: I prefer a mixture of brown and caster sugar since the brown sugar deepens the coffee flavor. I believe it is due to the molasses in the brown sugar. It works well for me, but you can skip it and use standard sugar if you want your syrup to be clear rather than dark like mine.
Water
Salt: I included a pinch of salt for flavor balance.
Vanilla extract: You can also substitute this with vanilla beans; I just prefer the extract because it’s less labor-intensive when making the syrup.
How to create vanilla syrup for coffee
In a small saucepan, combine brown and white sugar with water.
Set to medium heat and stir until the sugar and water are mixed and the sugar is dissolved; then lower the heat and let it simmer for about 5 minutes.
Remove from heat, then incorporate vanilla extract, a pinch of salt (if using), and mix. Allow the sugar syrup to cool. Transfer to an airtight container for storage up to 1 month, or longer when refrigerated.
