You may be aware by now that I’m a fanatic for popsicles throughout the entire year and for various occasions, so here are 7 of my beloved essential popsicle recipes.

Essential Popsicle Recipes For Every Season

Popsicles For Children And The Child Within Adults

What’s not to adore about homemade popsicles! Having risen in popularity over the years from the sugary/water colored popsicles of the past, they have transformed into a multi-ingredient, homemade refreshing treat.

Popsicles not only provide refreshing coolness on sweltering summer days and trigger childhood memories, but they can be prepared as delights for both youngsters and grown-ups.

They present a plethora of flavors, catering to various preferences and can even serve as a soothing remedy when feeling unwell.

Popsicles Were Initially An Accident

Back in 1905, an 11-year-old lad named Frank Epperson, left a blend of soda powder and water with a stirring stick outside overnight during the winter.

When he discovered his delightful frozen mixture the following morning, he named it ‘Epsicle,’ and the rights were later sold to the Joe Lowe Company, where it became ‘Popsicle’!

Homemade Popsicles Are Incredibly Simple To Create

Once you possess a popsicle mold, and believe me, they are quite affordable, you will find yourself crafting frozen popsicles all summer long!

If you haven’t gotten a popsicle mold yet, no problem; we can do this the traditional way, just like Frank Epperson’s unintentional popsicle, using disposable paper cups and sticks.

Pour the popsicle mix into the cups, freeze just to the freezing point, create a small slit in the center, and insert the wooden popsicle sticks.

The popsicle will continue to freeze with the stick positioned in the center of the pop.

It doesn’t get more Southern than Creamy Peach Pecan Bourbon Popsicles with pecan praline incorporated into this spirited adult peach popsicle.

With just a dash of sugar and the natural sweetness of ripe fruits, a caramel can be whipped up in minutes on the stovetop. That’s how these peach popsicles originated.

Add a splash of bourbon to the caramelized peaches and things start to lean south, and I mean that in a tasty way!

Healthful Cream Components In A Popsicle Recipe

Creamy can signify different things to each of us, so let’s explore a few alternatives to full-fat dairy cream, methods that enhance our popsicles’ healthiness.

Employing yogurt, whether full-fat or low-fat, will not only render popsicles creamy but the added tanginess from the fermentation of milk into yogurt naturally, provides extra flavor and numerous health benefits.

However, there are other alternatives for those who occasionally favor a non-dairy yogurt or milk.

So by all means utilize your preferred non-dairy yogurt, or try my homemade almond milk, which merely requires 2 ingredients to create and is an absolute essential technique if you adore nut, seed, or grain milks.

My preferred afternoon caffeine lift is a robust cup of coffee combined with a few solitary moments to recalibrate for what lies ahead in my day.

Nonetheless, a summer afternoon boost requires both caffeine and something to chill me down.

How To Make Summertime Watermelon Popsicles

  • First – select an exceptionally ripe watermelon from a farmer’s market or grocery store. Give the watermelon a tap to produce a deep, hollow sound.
  • Second – slice the flesh away from the rind. Various cultures often pickle the rinds. Remove any seeds, if present, before mashing the fruit.
  • Third – combine the diced watermelon and a splash of honey in a food processor or blender. Blend until smooth.
  • Last – pour the watermelon puree into popsicle molds or disposable cups, insert sticks, and freeze them.
  • Storing – when the popsicles are solidly frozen, take them out and place them in a freezer bag, allowing you to reuse the molds for new creations.
  • Notes – when using disposable cups and wooden sticks, pour the popsicle mixture into the cups, freeze until slightly solid, make a small cut in the center, and insert the wooden sticks, allowing them to freeze in place.

Raspberry tea, isn’t it simply fruit juice?

Not at all! The leaves of the raspberry plant, when brewed in water, yield a very nutritious tea, making these a definite ‘must-have’ popsicle.

No, I wasn’t a hippie in the 60’s, but I was certainly intrigued by natural, organic health care.

Raspberry leaves comprise a plant alkaloid called fragerine, as well as a natural astringent, which is known to support uterine health.

These qualities contribute to relaxing tense uterine muscles, which can be beneficial during childbirth or simply alleviate menstrual cramps.

This Raspberry Tea Popsicle recipe is ideally crafted during July when raspberries and their leaves are ready for harvesting. Prepare, freeze, and store in the freezer for the upcoming months.
