BRITISH ROYAL NAVY MEDICINE
Remedies come in numerous varieties, yet when you’re amidst the ocean, swaying back and forth, the Brits rely on the one remedy they insist soothes the stomach!
Nausea Remedy
Flu season isn’t delightful! And nausea (ugh) is equally unpleasant. That wretched flu virus seems to be knocking everyone down in the winter, and it’s downright nasty.
My British spouse revealed to me that when the Royal Navy ventured onto turbulent waters, seasickness was a common occurrence for many or perhaps their complete downfall.
However, he mentioned this was the remedy always administered for ailments at sea. I sampled it, and if you’ll forgive my expression in the video, I’ll confess it doesn’t have the best flavor but certainly settles the stomach. So… here it is!
Royal Navy Stomach Issues
Although my spouse spoke of this remedy that was reliable for many in the Royal Navy, he himself was never a part of it.
He was… well, involved with Special Branches in Hong Kong, collaborating with MI-5 and MI-6. Information does circulate, needless to say!
He was, nevertheless, a mariner in his own right. He sailed around Hong Kong for enjoyment during the three decades he resided there. The waters there were choppy and the demand for assistance for stomach issues was frequent. (Apologies, but I grew up in Annapolis, another renowned sailing hub, and I only boarded motorized vessels! (eye-roll!).
What he articulated was that the bitters in Angostura Aromatic Bitters are what alleviate the stomach, while the gin rapidly introduces it into the bloodstream. And there you have it!
