Ingredients for Chicken and Halloumi Wraps
There’s plenty that you can modify in your recipe for chicken and halloumi wraps, but I utilize:
Mini Chicken Breast Fillets– If you opt for larger breasts, cut them into strips, either before or after cooking, and ensure you cook for a tad longer if you bake them whole to guarantee they are fully cooked.
Halloumi Cheese
Wraps– Any variety will do.
Cooking Spray– Olive oil is a good alternative, too.
Oregano
Chili Flakes
Salt and Pepper
Salad –I use lettuce, sliced tomato, and cucumber.
Tzatziki
Are These Greek Chicken and Halloumi Wraps?
No, they’re not precisely Greek Halloumi wraps. Oregano, chili, Tzatziki, and of course, halloumi, provide it with a cool Greek-inspired essence, but that’s as far as I’d venture.
They are, nonetheless, the finest chicken and halloumi wraps I’ve crafted.
Could You Serve it with an Alternative Sauce?
Absolutely!
I enjoy tzatziki with the oregano and chili chicken breast fillets, but if you prefer, chicken and halloumi wraps with sweet chili sauce, sweet chili mayo, or even just a touch of mayo would be fantastic.
Sweet chili chicken and halloumi wraps
are scrumptious.
Can You Incorporate Vegetables?
Absolutely, when I prepare my peri peri chicken wraps, I include red onion, garlic, and bell peppers, but I’ve opted for salad here.
It’s your choice.
How to Create Chicken and Halloumi Wraps – Step-by-Step Directions
This is such a straightforward recipe, and there are countless aspects you can modify.
You can also find the complete recipe and measurements in the recipe card at the end of this article.
Step One
I have taken a shortcut and utilized store-bought tzatziki and wraps. If you prefer to create your own tzatziki, or some flatbreads, prepare those first.
Step Two – Marinate the Chicken
I opt for mini breast fillets. They are economical and cook swiftly. If you choose whole breasts, be aware they’ll require a longer cooking time unless you cut them beforehand.
Put your chicken in a bowl and spray generously with cooking spray (or drizzle olive oil). Add a tablespoon of oregano, a pinch of salt and pepper, and a generous pinch of chili flakes.
Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Step Three – Cook the Chicken
I roast my chicken fillets. This allows me to attend to other tasks while they cook. You can grill or fry if that’s your preference.
To roast, place on a baking sheet misted with cooking spray and bake in the oven for 20 minutes at 180 degrees C (fan-assisted).
Step Four – Prepare the Halloumi
While the chicken is baking, slice the halloumi into small (1-2cm) strips and fry them in a bit of cooking oil or spray at medium heat for approximately 4 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
Step Five – Assemble
Spread wraps with tzatziki (or alternative sauce), include salad, 2 mini chicken breast fillets, and 3-4 strips of halloumi.
Roll, either with both ends tucked or an open end.
What to Accompany Chicken and Halloumi Wraps
I usually serve my halloumi and chicken wraps with homemade potato wedges, which are nutritious, simple, and delightful.
You can also pair it with fries, waffles, sweet potato wedges, salad, corn, coleslaw, or any of the usual burger sides.
Crafting Homemade Potato Wedges
To create my homemade wedges, chop 4 large baking potatoes into thick wedges without peeling.
Put them in a sizable bowl and mix with 2 tablespoons of cooking oil and a generous pinch of salt and pepper (include other spices if desired).
Spread them in a thin layer on a large baking tray and bake at 180 degrees C (fan assisted) for about 30 minutes, stirring halfway through, until the largest potatoes are tender inside and the outer layer is golden and slightly crispy.
