Unique Almond Pizza Crust

This Distinct Almond Pizza Base, utilizing both almond flour and either barley or spelt flour for a nutty taste and crispy texture, provides an alternative to traditional wheat dough.

Distinct Almond Pizza Base

Pizza Base

To be frank, the majority of pizzas are beloved for their crust.

Deep dish pizza, thin crust pizza or stuffed pizza, it’s all centered around the pizza crust.

Numerous pizza crusts are crafted with highly refined wheat flour, resulting in a very gluten-rich; often flavorless product.

I have a passion for bread, and essentially, that’s what pizza is to me.

Thus, I aimed to enhance the flavor and nutrition of my pizza base, rather than just consuming plain white bread.

Consequently, I designed a remarkable pizza crust to adore, not merely cover with an abundance of cheese.

Almond Pizza Base

Contrary to popular belief that almond flour is solely for desserts, I discovered the subtle nutty flavor ideal for a savory dish.

Clearly, to achieve a pizza dough that would rise, I required a gentle gluten assistant. Since rolling out the pizza dough onto pans was my goal, I handled the dough just like I would with bread dough.

As a result, I crafted the finest pizza dough I’ve ever tasted.

Anything placed on top will be absolutely scrumptious.

A Distinctive Crust For All Toppings

Why Almonds?

Frequently in Mediterranean cuisine, nuts are utilized in savory meals instead of meat protein.

While I intended to create a pizza that could be adorned with or without meat, I desired the crust to stand out on its own.

Almonds possess a delicate nutty flavor and beautifully complement many other tastes within a single dish.

What Makes An Almond Pizza Base Unique?

Essentially everything contributes to the uniqueness of this pizza crust!

Three varieties of flour enliven the dough with both nutrients and flavor.

Furthermore, a generous amount of olive oil imparts a subtly peppery taste to the crust.

Pizza Revolves Around The Dough

How To Create Almond Pizza Base

To commence, like any yeast dough, allow the yeast, sugar, and water to rest for 5 minutes to froth and proof.

Once the yeast has been proofed, olive oil and an egg are blended in, increasing the liquid content.

The three types of flour are delicately combined with salt, mixing and incorporating more flour until the dough unites and ceases to be sticky.

Cover the dough and place it in a warm area to rise, then it will be ready to make the finest pizza you’ve ever experienced.

Distinct Pizza

While it’s certainly possible to layer on the tomato sauce, pepperoni, and cheese on this pizza base, why not experiment with a few different pizza toppings!
